Seattle, Washington, is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. Located between Puget Sound and Lake Washington in King County, and overlooking Elliott Bay, Seattle is aptly nicknamed “The Emerald City”.
Set between the spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west and is the cultural and business centre of the Pacific Northwest. The city and its surrounding areas are the home of the Space Needle, Boeing's aircraft assembly plants, Microsoft, Amazon.com and the University of Washington, as well as a vibrant arts scene and dotted with lush green parks. Downtown Seattle is where the retail core is located, surrounded by stunning architecture and the beautiful waterfront, it’s the best place to start in the city. You’ll also find the Pike Place Market, home to the famous fish market, original Starbucks Coffee shop, and a large indoor and outdoor market. From here head over to the Pioneer Square-International District the oldest part of the city, here you’ll find the city’s famous art galleries and numerous amounts of high quality restaurants.
There is so much to see in the city and the best way is to take a guided tour, either by boat or for a historic setting, sample the Seattle Underground Tour. Architectural gems not to be missed include the Space Needle with revolving top, and the Smith Tower; Seattle’s oldest skyscraper, decorated in an Art Deco fashion and offers inspirational views over the city from the observation deck.
