Detroit is a major metropolis in the state of Michigan and is the hailed inventor of the automotive assembly line and also prides itself on bringing us into the era of Motown and modern techno music. Due to the musical history of the city, the nightlife is a wonderful experience of all-night clubs and live music bars offering the best in techno and rock music and for an added bonus is home to Hitsville U.S.A a museum retelling the history of Motown. In the daytime, Detroit becomes an exciting place for urban exploration, known for its impressive, enormous but decaying relics of the American Industry and a fantastic place to immerse yourself in times gone by. The historic neighbourhoods make for lovely day trips and the two of the most architectural pieces include; The Renaissance Centre, a group of seven interconnected skyscrapers with the largest building in Michigan at its centre and the Fisher Building, known as the state’s largest art object, it is a stunning Art-Deco building designed in 1928. Art lovers will feel at home in Detroit as there is a vibrant underground art scene and the Detroit Institute of Art is one of the most significant museums in the whole of the United States with a collection totalling over one billion dollars. Downtown Detroit is home to the United States’ second largest theatre district and boasts plenty of nice parks to relax in, while you’re surrounded by beautiful American architecture and many of the city’s tourist attractions.
